He is in the JCBA house which is a business academy. This is Mr.Fleming's first year in JCBA. He used to be the athletic director for the school. He has been teaching for 23 years, 15 of them at Johnson. His hobbies outside of school are gardening, reading, and traveling. Teaching history allows him to learn from his travels.
Mr. Fleming came to Johnson to teach and coach in 1996. Once here he fell in love with the students and staff. "I can's imagine being anywhere else. HJ students are the best and I have enjoyed every minute of my time here!" Why choose the JCBA house? Mr. Fleming didn't choose the JCBA house, it chose him. He was thrilled to find out he was coming to this house. He says the teachers and students are awesome. "A real family feeling in this house that I love."
Why do you like teaching kids? Everyday is different and exciting he says. There is nothing like the feeling of watching a student's face light up when they "get it". The knowledge that you helped improved a student's life a little bit is awesome! The best part is that he learns from his students everyday.
Mr.Fleming chose his career in history because he always loved and his family has deep roots in the U.S. Learning about our past helps to understand the present and give us insight to the future. The history of our nation is like a great story with intrigue, action and great characters. All of us continue to add chapters to the story.
What do you expect from you students? He expects them to try their best at everything they do. He wants all his students to reach for the stars and reach for their potential. Never accept less than excellence. Here are some websites that will help you with U.S. history PBS |
