Juniors and seniors should start signing up for Scholarships as soon as possible. Scholarships will give them the privilege to receive easy money to pay for college and/ or their college supplies that they will need, such as college course books that their professors require. Students can easily sign up for many scholarships at www.Fastwebs.com or talk to your counselors for other ways.
GPA Requirements
In California the lowest GPA average to get into a college is 2.0, and that is to get into a community college (CRC, SCC, etc.) but, like many others, you might have higher aspiration after you graduate from high school. A GPA is a calculated average of the letter grades you earn in school following a 0 to 4.0 or 5.0 scale. At the end of each semester, you’ll receive a GPA based on the grades you earned in all of your classes during that semester. During high school, you will maintain a cumulative GPA, which is an ongoing average of all your semester one and two grades, beginning with freshman year. High schools can calculate GPAs based on your letter grades in different ways. Following a standard 4.0 scale for example, an A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0. However, some high schools count pluses and minuses as well, for example, a B+=3.3, B=3.0, B-=2.7. Each class grade is multiplied by the credit for each class and added together to determine a final GPA. The GPA requirements for college or universities vary from each location or state. For example the GPA requirement for a UC school is 3.0 (unless you have fantastic SAT scores and/or taken many AP classes). This is just some of the information on GPA requirements.
Senior Projects
In order to graduate from JCBA Academy you have to complete a Senior Project. The senior project is a mandatory thing you need to do in order to graduate; it is part of the JCBA graduation requirements. In the senior project you have to create a paper, project, portfolio, and presentation. There are many things you can do as your senior project there is practically nothing you can’t do for your senior project, unless it is like learning how to play a guitar and you already know how, that’s the only thing you can’t do as a senior project. When you do a senior project it takes a lot of your own time to get the project done, it is a personal project, not a group project; it also takes a lot of hard work of you. Classes to take to get ahead
Classes that you can take to get ahead in school would be an advisory class. An advisory class is a class that you take online when you fail. So if you failed your Spanish class freshman year, you would go to your counselor, or dean, and ask if you can take an advisory class for another class; not all schools offer this class as a suggestion to take to get ahead. You can also take summer school as a course to get ahead of classes. You have to be failing a class to take summer school or failed a class in your previous years. To attend summer school you have to go to your front office and ask for a summer school application so that you can put what classes you have to take and get your parents to sign it so that you can attend summer school. You can take 0, 7th, and 8th period classes also. All you need to do is go to your counselor and ask if you can take a 0, 7th, or 8th period class after school. If you do take an 8th period class it will probably take until 5 or 6 o’clock at night. Make up classes in college can also get you ahead if you’re failing classes. All you have to do is go to a college nearest to you and apply for some extra classes in their office. They will give you a form that you will have to sing, it’s almost like summer school but at a college. Advanced placement (AP) classes also do the same; you have to get good grades and pass all your tests with a proficient or advanced to get AP classes also. You can take elective classes to raise your grades in another class by getting them as your 0, 7th, or 8th periods. You can take test prep classes to get ahead as an elective along with college prep classes. You just do the same thing as you normally would if you want to change your classes; you go to your counselor and ask if you can get test prep or a college prep class.
When Your Ahead of Classes
Students who are ahead in credits have many options. Once choice is to take extra classes they would want to learn more about, or have interest in. Some classes may be gym, dance class, an extra math class, an extra science class, etc. If you didn’t pass a class within the years you’ve been in high school, you can always request to retake this class so you don’t need to do it during summer school. Besides, failing a class looks really bad on your transcripts. Another option is to be a T.A. If you’re lucky, you will be able to choose any teacher you want to be a teacher’s assistant. Taking T.A. is an easy class, and it also helps the teachers! They will have a little less work to do, like grading and handing out papers. If none of these interest you and you like being ahead and challenging yourself, you can talk to your counselors and ask if they can sign you up for a college class. You will then need to get papers signed and visit a community college’s counselor who will help you sign up for the class you want to take there. Not all classes will be open for you to take, and the earlier you sign up, the greater chance you have of getting a spot in before it all gets filled up. The last choice you have is senior option. This is for responsible students who are ahead of credits and would like to leave campus after they are done with all their required classes. You can only go home any time after 4th period. This would be very helpful for students who have jobs or would like to go home early to relax. After you chose what you’d like to do, go to your counselor and sign up for it.
Summer School
Summer school is a great way to get ahead or caught up on your credits. Things such as your art and P.E. classes are offered. If the school isn’t hosting a class that you need or want, you could go to another campus. Depending on what you are trying to take for summer school, you could attend a college campus to take your class. Sac City holds many courses of different subjects. Although we are at the end of the list to even be accepted to attend the campus, the sooner you get your forms in, the better the chance.
